Lan Luo is a Professor of Marketing at the University of
Southern California. She
holds a Ph.D. degree in Business (Major: Marketing) from the University
of Maryland. Her primary research interests are applications of
artificial intelligence in digitial platforms and new product design.Lan
Led the Amazon Studios Science team from 2021 to 2022, and currently
serves as an Amazon Scholar to its Global Media Entertainment Business.
Lan also holds various editorial/professional leadership roles in her
field, including VP of Practice for INFORMS Marketing Science (ISMS)
community, Associate Editor for Marketing Science and International Journal of Research in
Marketing, and Senior Editor for Production and Operations
Management.
Lan is a well-published author, an active mentor to Ph.D. students,
and an excellent teacher. Her research has been published in Marketing
Science, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of
Marketing, among others. She was the recipient of the
John D.C. Little Award, the
Donald R. Lehmann Award (twice), and the finalist for the Paul E.
Green Award (twice). Since 2015, Lan has supervised two
doctoral dissertations that were the recipients of the ISMS Doctoral
Dissertation Competition Award. In 2022, Lan was granted the USC
Marshall Ph.D. Mentoring Award. Lan developed the
Marketing Analytics elective for MBA and Master of Business Analytics
students, one of the most popular graduate electives at USC Marshall.
She also received Marshall's Golden Apple Award
for her teaching excellence, presented every year to the professors who
have had the greatest impact on their students, as voted by members of
the graduating class.
